ONE POT LOOSE MEAT SANDWICH (TAVERN SANDWICH)

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 pounds Ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Butter Unsalted
  • 1/2 cup Onion Finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Green peppers Finely chopped
  • Salt To taste
  • Pepper To taste
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger powder
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1-2 tbsp Ketchup Optional
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth Low sodium

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat butter in a large nonstick pot over medium high heat.
  2. Add beef and cook for a few minutes until it’s no longer pink, breaking and crumbling it along the way.
  3. Drain fat/ grease and add onions, green peppers, salt, pepper, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, vinegar, tomato paste (optional), broth.
  4. Mix everything together and cook on medium heat until liquid is reduced to your desired consistency, mixing often. 
  5. Serve on toasted hamburger buns topped iff with with onions, pickles, mustard and other condiments of your choice. Enjoy!
